We're collaborating with the good guys at Brother Cycles to bring their bikepacking, gravel grinding, adventure seeking event - 'Brother in the Wild' - Eifel!

The Brother in the Wild 'komoot World Tour' is a series of events created by Brother Cycles and supported by komoot, in which they collaborate with amazing people (that's us!) around the world on bikepacking & adventure rides for all to come and enjoy.

So what do we have planned for Brother In The Wild Eifel?

We have a nice location in the heart of the Hûrtgen Forest (Germany) to setup camp with campfires and hot showers. We'll supply you with a diner on Saturday evening and serve you a breakfast on Sunday morning - feel free to arrive Friday night or Saturday morning. You just need to bring your tent, sleeping bag and everything else you'd need for a comfortable camping experience. We'll even have a bar, so don't worry about strapping your crate of beer on your bike!

To keep you entertained we've created some sweet gravel/roughstuff routes for both Saturday and Sunday - with a few different options depending on what you feel like. We'll have a challenging 170km/3000m route for the bravest on Saturday, a 100km/2000m regular track on Saturday and Sunday and even a 60km route if you want something a little more chilled. All of this is unsupported and unguided of course, but we will give you the coordinates for refueling out on route to pick up supplies.

Our campout is located in Kleinhau, in the center of the (in)famous Hürtgenwald, probably one of the best places for riding in North-West Germany. However it's a place with a dark past that still has the scars of fierce fighting during WWII. Those with a sharp eye will discover the remains of WW2 bunkers, trenches and foxholes along the route!

We're keeping this event cosy so we can focus on community and friendship, as such places are limited to 80 riders. We prefer you show up by bike, so we'll set you up with gpx tracks from the nearest railway stations of Eupen (BE) and Langerwehe (DE). You don't have to worry about taking too much food either, since we have a supermarket in the village that is open until 10pm on both Friday and Saturday.

Tickets cost €80 and include the following:

  • Event pack including welcome card and stickers

  • Brother in the Wild wooden Dangle Disc - hang this off your bike or a bag to show you're a ticket holder!

  • Wildhood event patch

  • 2 nights camping in Kleinhau

  • Dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning - vegan/vegetarian options available

  • Route information via the komoot app - GPX download available

  • Free komoot region bundle pack

  • Wildhood Special edition embroided patch

Routes and kit:

  • 60km/ 80 km/ 100km route options available over the weekend

  • The routes are mostly off-road – we therefore recommend using a bike with 40mm tyres or larger

  • Some sections are particularly rough, so depending on your bike and ability you may have to hike-a-bike these parts.

  • The routes do not pass any bike shops so make sure you pack adequate tools and spares to be self sufficient whilst riding

  • The rides are not guided - you must therefore be able to navigate yourself using the komoot app or a gps device

  • Most importantly this is a social ride and not a race, so take your time and enjoy the views!
